What we do
Our solution guides user operation through pre-defined processes which validate the data ensuring the statutory requirements are met at every step without exception.
Excise reporting can be automated and triggered by an end-of-day procedure and emailed to the team ready for checking the following morning.
We record our values to six decimal places guaranteeing the highest possible accuracy. The logic behind our duty calculations has been tried and tested and used successfully for many years.

Will – Head Brewer
Will’s true love is brewing – getting bogged down in paperwork was never part of the plan. He needed a simple and foolproof way of generating his returns. He didn’t want to fall foul of HMRC but he didn’t want it to dominate his time either. He had to be able to get it right with little fuss, delegate it when he was on holiday and for it to let him know when things were wrong.
With our solution, Will now finds it easier to...
Simplify his reporting process
Automate his reporting process
Ensure his accuracy via the automated EX46
Understand his costs & excise values
Hold beer under duty suspension until the excise is due
BRANDS THAT TRUST LANGDON WITH THEIR EXCISE REPORTING
Cask conditioning is a mainstay of the brewing industry. We all know of the improved aromas, fuller flavours and deeper characters of a live ale. Fewer know or use the HMRC concessions granted for cask conditioning.
HMRC define a portion of the contents of a cask cannot be sold due to sediments. This can be legitimately excluded from any duty calculations. Similarly ullage, the residue at the bottom of each returned cask, can also be offset against your production and exempted from duty.
Although this could add up to a significant figure, it might be dismissed as too burdensome to claim. But when your system automatically applies these concessions with no administrative overhead, as Langdon’s excise solution does as standard, it suddenly becomes very worthwhile.
The whisky trade is very particular about its maturation process. Every aspect of the cask and its environment are carefully monitored and controlled. One of the few variables is “the angels' share” losses over time through evaporation.
Whilst whisky may spend long periods of its life in one place, it will also be well travelled by the time it finds itself in a bottle. From production to a pre-mature dunnage, back to production for a decant into a new cask. Then from production to the ageing warehouse.
With increasing number of specialist off-site contract storage, journeys are only increasing. Track your stock (with any losses) and movements seamlessly throughout the ageing cycle. Our trade facility warehouse solution handles this and much more.
